A 360° Tour of the CLI Center

Located on a quiet Guilin road near Guangxi Normal University, the 5-story CLI Center includes 18 private classrooms, several study areas, a full kitchen and dining area, 3 stories of private accommodations (each with a full private bathroom), and a recreational room equipped with a pingpong table, electric piano, mahjong table, and more.

A Vibrant and Welcoming Community

First and foremost, CLI is a vibrant and welcoming community. The CLI Center is home to students and friends from all walks of life and serves as a focused living and learning space for language education and cultural exchange.

We maintain at least a one-to-one ratio of international students to local teachers, program directors, and community members.

This, along with a warm and welcoming organizational culture, helps create the ideal environment to learn the Chinese language.

The CLI Center is comfortably nestled along a quiet road in one of Guilin's nicest areas—Sanlidian (三里店). CLI is a close walk from indoor and outdoor markets; a major Chinese university replete with basketball courts, soccer fields, academic buildings, and more; Guilin’s most famous park—Seven Star Park (七星公园); a breathtaking Buddhist monastery carved into a karst mountain; and many restaurants, shops, and fun things to see and do.

The CLI Center is an ideal Mandarin learning environment because:

  • Our teachers and local university pengyou (朋友) fill its halls day-in and day-out, and are always open to engage you in Chinese.
  • We maintain a one-to-one ratio of native Chinese speakers to language learners.
  • We set aside at least one Mandarin-only table during our daily lunches at CLI (Monday-Friday).
  • At least one-third of the 36 private rooms at the CLI Center are occupied by CLI teachers and local pengyou (朋友).
  • The CLI Center is replete with multiple areas to hang out and relax — a recreation room with ping pong and mahjong tables; a full kitchen and dining area; a spacious rooftop with an amazing view; and more.

Private Accommodations

The recently renovated CLI Center is the perfect location to live, study, eat, relax, enjoy China, and learn Chinese. All bedrooms have a range of Western amenities, including free WiFi, heating and AC, hot and cold water, and a full Western bathroom.

Equally important, all rooms are safe and secure. The CLI Center is located along a quiet street next to our university affiliate, Guangxi Normal University. Guilin as a whole is a very safe city in which to live, study and travel, and several full-time CLI team members live in the Center year round.

Your accommodations at CLI are also home to many of your classmates as well as a few CLI directors.

Location of the CLI Center in Guilin

That's us, 桂林市喜爱中文培训学校 (Guìlínshì Xǐ'ài Zhōngwén Péixùn Xuéxiào), right in the middle of the accompanying map!

喜爱 (Xǐ'ài), a transliteration of CLI, is the official Chinese name we selected for our school license in China. Use the map to zoom out and see where we're located within Guilin, and zoom out even more to see Guilin's location within China.

CLI is a 10-minute walk of the main gate of Guangxi Normal University, a 2-minute walk from the nearest coffee shop (run by our friends at the Junshe Boutique Guest House), and an even closer walk to five small soccer fields.

We've been extremely fortunate to call the CLI Center home for the past ten years. We can't wait to welcome you to our community in Guilin!

The following directions can be read to, or printed and given to, a taxi driver:

从三里店过去，经过师大的大门后继续往前走，在师大加油站对面有条小路叫朝阳西路，过马路后沿着小路一直走，往前进大概三百米，在左手边有一栋建筑门前挂着很多红灯笼的地方 。 所以就是，朝阳西路31号师大加油站对面小路进去四百米，原跑马场。找不到的话，请打电话给07732180150。

By Bus from the Airport

Travel time (approx.): 60 minutes
  1. Exit the airport’s arrival deck and board the bus headed for downtown Guilin. There is only one public bus that goes to downtown Guilin. The bus is usually parked in front of the airport’s KFC. The bus fare is around 20-25 RMB. It departs every 30 minutes from 6:00am until 9:00pm.
  2. Exit the airport bus at its last stop, which is called 民航大厦 (Mínháng dàshà). The bus ride should take about 40 to 60 minutes.
  3. Go to the bus stop that is on the same road that the airport bus traveled down and board the number 16 or 32 bus toward 三里店 (Sānlǐdiàn), which is in the same direction that the airport bus was traveling. The 16 bus costs 1 RMB , while the 32 bus costs 2 RMB.
  4. Ride the bus for about six stops (give or take) and get off at 朝阳路口 (Cháoyáng lùkǒu). The bus stop is just before a gas station.
  5. Continue walking down the street in the same direction that the bus was traveling. Take your first left at the intersection, which is about 50 meters from the bus stop. The road is called 朝阳西路 (Cháoyáng xīlù).
  6. Walk down the road, which is a bit of a back road, for about 300 meters until you see the CLI building on your left.

By Bus from Guilin Railway Station

Travel time (approx.): 30 minutes
  1. Exit the train station and continuing walking straight across the parking lot. When you arrive at the main road, you’ll see a bus stop diagonally and to the left across the road. The stop is called 桂林站 (Guìlín Zhàn).
  2. At Guìlín Zhàn, board the number 16 bus toward 三里店 (Sānlǐdiàn). The 16 bus costs 1 RMB.
  3. Ride the bus for about 12 stops (give or take) and get off at 朝阳路口 (Cháoyáng lùkǒu). The bus stop is just before a gas station.
  4. Continue walking down the street in the same direction that the bus was traveling. Take your first left at the intersection, which is about 50 meters from the bus stop. The road is called 朝阳西路 (Cháoyáng xīlù).
  5. Walk down the road, which is a bit of a back road, for about 300 meters until you see the CLI building on your left.

Travel time (approx.): 50 minutes
  1. Exit the train station and walk about 350 meters to the 桂林北站 (Guìlín Běizhàn) bus stop.
  2. At Guìlín Běizhàn, board the number 32 bus toward 三里店 (Sānlǐdiàn). The 32 bus costs 2 RMB.
  3. Ride the bus for about 15 stops (give or take) and get off at 朝阳路口 (Cháoyáng lùkǒu). The bus stop is just after a gas station.
  4. Walk down the same street the bus was traveling on but in the opposite direction. Take your first left at the intersection, which is about 50 meters from the bus stop. The road is called 朝阳西路 (Cháoyáng xīlù).
  5. Walk down the road, which is a bit of a back road, for about 300 meters until you see the CLI building on your left.

On Foot from GXNU

  1. Turn right after exiting GXNU’s main gate (also known as the west gate).
  2. Walk down the main road for about 100 meters.
  3. Turn left at the first intersection, which is immediately past a gas station. The road is called 朝阳西路 (Cháoyáng xīlù).
  4. Walk down the road, which is a bit of a back road, for about 300 meters until you see the CLI building on your left.
