Immersion Program To-Do List

Please complete each of the following steps in preparation for your Immersion Program. As always, feel free to contact CLI anytime at 888-781-8383 or email CLI’s Admissions Manager, Tania Yeromiyan, at tania@studycli.org.

1. Secure your space in CLI’s Immersion Program
   To reserve your space for your selected program dates, please click the below link to submit your 300 USD program deposit via CLI’s secure payment system (secured by Stripe).

2. (for students currently outside of China) Obtain your Chinese visa
   Please complete CLI’s Invitation Letter Form at your earliest convenience. Per the Chinese Consulate’s guidance, please apply for your visa within 45-90 days of your departure to China. In other words, do not apply for your Chinese visa more than 90 days prior to — or within 45 days of — your departure to China. Please consult CLI's X2 Visa Application Guide if you program is less than 180 days in length or X1 Visa Application Guide if your program is 180 days or longer. As always, feel free to contact your Admissions Manager anytime throughout the visa application process! Visa fees are not included in CLI tuition.
3. Complete CLI's Guilin Arrival Information Form
   Included in your program tuition, CLI provides all students with airport, train station or bus station pick-up and drop-off. In order for us to greet you at your Guilin arrival location, please complete CLI's Guilin Arrival Information Form at least two weeks prior to your program start date. Please plan to arrive in Guilin the Saturday or Sunday prior to your first day of classes. CLI’s orientation program will be held Monday morning. From early September through April, if a guest room is available, you can reside in CLI housing prior to the Saturday (before your classwork begins) for an additional 150 RMB per night.
4. Review your Pre-Departure Packet
   In an effort to better prepare you for your stay in Guilin, CLI has put together this detailed pre-departure packet. Please review all information carefully and contact CLI at tania@studycli.org with any additional questions that you may have.
5. Submit your program tuition
   Within one week of submitting your 300 USD program deposit, you will receive an email from your CLI Admissions Manager with instructions for your remaining tuition balance. Full program tuition is due three weeks prior to program commencement.
6. Tell Us Your Chinese Story!
   We want to hear about your experience learning Chinese and your goals for the future. Prior to your arrival in Guilin, please complete CLI's pre-departure questionnaire. Use Chinese to answer these questions to the best of your ability. If you are just beginning to learn Chinese, feel free to use English!
7. Complete CLI’s Dietary & Medical Form
   Please complete CLI's Dietary & Medical Form upon reading this prompt. It is important that we have access to information regarding any medical allergies you may have or other medical considerations we should be aware of. Please also use this opportunity to inform us of your dietary restrictions (if any).
8. (for homestay students) Complete CLI’s Homestay Introduction Form for your homestay family
   Please note that your Homestay Introduction Form requires you to upload a doctor's note demonstrating you are in good health and fit to live with a Chinese family. You may wish to use CLI's health certificate template or one recommended by your doctor. Please allow adequate time to complete this step and submit your Homestay Introduction Form to CLI no later than two weeks prior to your arrival in Guilin. Your CLI homestay family is excited to meet you in Guilin soon!
9. Review CLI’s list of Online Learning Resources
   A great selection of free Mandarin learning resources is available online. Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with each of the resources mentioned in CLI’s online learning resources list.
